Luscious and Lavish Oil Pastel Class

Jacquelyn Pfaff-Pratt will be teaching a one day class on oil pastels at Talbot County Visual Art Center. Jacquelyn is a retired NY state art teacher that has won many awards and honors for her artwork. She moved to Easton a 1 ½ years ago and has fallen in love with the town. She believes oil pastel is a medium that is often overlooked as a means to creation. It was created in the 1940’s for Pablo Picasso by Sennelier. He asked for oil paints to be made into a crayon like form. They are made with oil paint and a little bit of wax so they are a more solid medium. Oil pastels are a fun and challenging way to make art. The class will be covering different use of papers/boards, brands pros and cons, and technique and skills. The students will try many of the different papers available, learn the techniques for use and take home a started piece of art. The class will be held at the art center on March 10, Saturday from 10am-1:30pm. The cost for members is $50 and for non-members $65. The art center is located in Talbot Town Shopping Plaza behind the Piazza, Italian Market on the side street. Parking is available. To register, click here for a registration form, or call 443-385-0411. A materials list will be provided upon registration.
