Talbot County Visual Art Center host Life on the Chesapeake Juried Art Show
The year 2007 is the 100th birthday of James A. Michener, author of Chesapeake. In recognition of this occasion, the Talbot County Free Library in Easton, Maryland will be sponsoring Celebrate Chesapeake, a series of community events celebrating the history and heritage of the Chesapeake Bay. An important part of these events will be “Life on the Chesapeake,” a Michener Centennial Celebration Juried Art Show. The Talbot County Visual Art Center (TCVAC), home to 175 member-artists from the Mid-Eastern Shore, will coordinate this exhibit.
The Art Show will be exhibited from September through October 2007 in Easton and St. Michaels, MD. Artists may submit two-dimensional original paintings, drawings, or assemblages depicting “Life on the Chesapeake.” Only original work will be admitted, no photography, manipulated photos, prints or reproductions are eligible for this year’s show.
Life on the Chesapeake will be a juried Art Show with a best in show prize of $1,000 as well as prizes for art work in other categories. The opening reception will be Friday, September 14, 2007 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Arts Center.
The artwork you wish to enter will be juried by digital images on CD. Each applicant may enter up to three digital images for jury. You must submit your CD by August 1st and you will be notified of acceptance by August 15th.
